NCMD Seminar Series Presents 'Transitions from CAMHS to AMHS for young autistic adults with bipolar disorder' and 'Evaluation of the NCMD Seminar Series'
This week for our NCMD Seminar Series, we had two fantastic presentations.
Dr Barbara Salas is an academic clinical fellow (ST3) in general adult psychiatry, currently working in forensic inpatient services at Northgate. She also works 1 day a week with the National Specialist Adolescent Mood Disorders Service (NSAMS) and alternate her research day with the CaPE clinic, where she screens and randomises patients. She is interested in looking at transitions for young autistic adults with bipolar disorder, specifically those moving from CAMHS into adult services. Her presentation 'My presentation 'Transitions from CAMHS to AMHS for young autistic adults with bipolar disorder' is in regard to her academic clinical fellowship research project.
Imogen Tate and Isobel Atkins are Newcastle University undergraduate psychology placement students with the Regional Affective Disorders Service and NCMD, and Jessica Nicholls-Mindlin is a clinical research fellow and PhD candidate at Newcastle University. They recently surveyed the NCMD Seminar Series audience to evaluate perceptions of current delivery, content and format to maintain and build on its success. The results were presented recently for the Royal College of Psychiatrists Academic Faculty Conference in London earlier this year, with an upcoming presentation at the British Association of Psychopharmacology, under supervision of the NCMD seminar co-chairs Dr Victoria Wing and Dr Tiago Costa. They presented the results of this evaluation, potential innovations to the seminar series, as well as broader implications for educational activities seeking to bring together clinicians and researchers for the advancement of mental health care. We hope to use this feedback to build on the future of the seminar series, for example - how we might best include those with lived experience, how we could use AI to transcribe summaries and how we can increase the ethnic diversity in the programme.
Thank you to this week's speakers!
