How do I sign up?
There are various ways that you can get involved in research. Sometimes studies are advertised in public spaces such as universities.
There are also a range of existing registers and when you sign up, you typically sign up to receive information about current or future studies that might be of interest to you. Another can join these. These include:

Why is it important?
Even just by signing up, it is extremely helpful. Some of the impacts include allowing researchers to identify and contact potential volunteers. If you decide to get involved, it makes it possible to do vital research that can help others.
What kind of research might I take part in?
Research can vary from taking part in a one-time focus group or interview, to being a participant in a large-scale randomised controlled trial. It is always your choice as to what kind of research you take part in.
What kind of places might research take place in?
Research can take place in all kinds of settings; these can include but are not limited to, a university building, a hospital, or, even remotely.
How long might I be participating for?
Duration of participation again, can vary from just a small part of your day, to a longer-term commitment.
For example, in The ASCEnD Trial, participants are currently followed for 24 weeks using online questionnaires and weekly phone calls to measure improvement in depressive symptoms, quality of life and costs.
