Surveillance of Incidence of first time diagnosis of Early Onset Depression in children aged 3-13 years in the UK and ROI (EOD-UK & ROI Study)
An exciting new study which has just launched in January 2019!
Early onset depression (EOD) has rarely been investigated and is still considered to be a rare event. It is of the utmost importance that we improve knowledge regarding the number of cases and presentation of these children to the NHS to help with recognition of the condition, planning of service provision, and developing management approaches for children with this treatable illness.
This study will aid in this by identifying all new cases of EOD in the UK and Republic of Ireland presenting to consultant child psychiatrists, allowing a review of the presentation, management and outcome at 1 and 2 years for the child.
We have had 14 incidences reported already so far by psychiatrists in the UK and ROI!
Keep an eye out for updates along the way…
