Patient Experiences of Depression Care in the NHS
As part of the parliamentary campaign focused on improving access to innovative treatments for depression and bipolar disorder, we are sharing experiences from people living with depression within the UK. This patient quote reflects one individual’s experience of being able to access a treatment not widely available for depression within the NHS, and the difference it made to their daily life.
- “After living with depression for over 10 years and being told ‘there’s nothing left to try,’ I was lucky enough to try bupropion through a specialist clinic. It's widely used for depression in other countries, but rarely offered for depression in the UK. It didn’t fix everything, but it helped me function enough to get back into part-time work. I can’t help wondering how different my life might have been if I’d been able to try it earlier.”
