NCMD members recognised at the British Association of Psychopharmacology Summer Meeting 2025
Fourteen current NCMD members and alumni attended the annual British Association of Psychopharmacology Summer Meeting, held in Manchester in July 2025. Attendees spanned all career stages, from undergraduate students and early career researchers to emeritus professors.
- Professor Hamish McAllister-Williams was invited to take part in the symposium Depression- the individual, the media, and the evidence, presenting on ‘Evidence-based pharmacological treatment of depression-putting it all together’.
- Six NCMD members were invited to present posters, five of which were bursary or prize winners!

Undergraduates:
- Elliott Asprey (Undergraduate Medical Student; supervised by Victoria Wing) was invited to present a poster on his previous BAP funded summer internship: Lithium Dosage Prediction: A comparison of methods and derivation of pharmacokinetic data from existing publications
- Neave Woollam (Undergraduate Psychology Placement Student; supervised by Victoria Wing) was awarded an Undergraduate bursary to attend the meeting to present her poster: The Lithium Dose Optimisation project: contributions from Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement
Postgraduates:
- Dr Jessica Nicholls-Mindlin (Clinical PhD Student; supervised by Stuart Watson) was awarded The Hannah Steinberg Award which supports the career of early stage researchers i.e. PhD, DM or who wish to further develop their scientific knowledge and/or methodological skills through a time-limited placement in an academic setting away from their home institution.
- Dr Victoria Wing (NIHR Clinical Lecturer and Speciality Trainee in Psychiatry) won the Clinical Summer Meeting poster prize, awarded based on the quality of the science, written and oral presentation of her poster: ‘A one compartment model provides benchmark lithium dose prediction’
Outstanding Contribution Award:
- Dr Sasha Gartside (retired Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology) won the Outstanding Contribution Award which recognises and honours BAP members or staff who have made exceptional contributions to the BAP. She was nominated by Professor Hamish McAllister Williams (Professor of Affective Disorders) who won the same award in 2024, for her dedicated and outstanding contribution to the BAP’s educational portfolio for over 25 years.
