What are psychedelic drugs?
This refers to drugs that produce hallucinations and distorted perceptions- an altered sense of space and time and a loss of the normal boundaries of being an individual person. It is often accompanied by changes in mood.
Psychedelics act on receptors including serotonin and dopamine receptors. They are described as acting on monoaminergic or glutamatergic mechanisms eg Psilocybin and LSD, Ketamine Ecstasy/MDMA.
