What is Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

This is a mental illness that occurs in about 1% of adults but is more common in children. People who suffer from OCD can have obsessions and/or compulsions. When severe OCD symptoms can take up many hours of a person’s life each day. It can be accompanied by marked anxiety and depression. Treatment may involve behaviour therapy and antidepressant medication and in very difficult to treat OCD psychosurgery/ neurosurgery for mental disorder, may be used.
