During a very rainy November evening, clinicians, academics and members of the public attended
a public engagement event at Newcastle Dental School, hosted by NCMD and the Regional Affective Disorders Service (RADS) from Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (NTW).

Internationally renowned clinicians and academics from NTW, RADS, and Newcastle University delivered an engaging programme of talks regarding the specialist mood disorder services and ongoing research studies taking place in Newcastle.

Dr Alan Currie discussed the RADS outpatient service, Dr Joe Thorne and Dr David Cousins discussed the RADS inpatient service and the “bespoke off label” treatments offered by the service. Professor Hamish McAllister-Williams then discussed the current and upcoming research studies and trials present for patients with mood disorders in NTW.

It was great to see such a high level of interest and engagement from the public within the areas of mood disorder treatment and research.
