Evaluation of Parent Intervention for Challenging Behaviour in Children with Intellectual Disabilities (EPICC-ID)
Approximately 10% of children in the general population show challenging behaviour and this increases among children with learning disability as recent report by the Challenging Behaviour Foundation showed that children with learning disability are more likely to show behaviour that challenges. Early intervention has been highlighted as particularly effective in bringing about change and improving longer term outcomes in children with challenging behaviour or conduct disorders.
EPICC-ID is a trial investigating the clinical and cost effectiveness of a parenting programme, Stepping Stones Tripple P, designed to reducing challenging behaviour with children aged 30-59 months and moderate to severe learning disability.
SSTP has been found to be effective in reducing challenging behaviour in in children with learning disability in many trials outside the UK.
